WHY RENEWABLES?

Climate change and the impact it will have on our lives for generations to come are at the forefront of Integrum's strategic focus. Successive UK governments have committed through various local and global agreements to combatting climate change. The energy sector is a key part of this process and as we move away from traditional, polluting energy generation there is the opportunity to transition our energy system to a greener, more affordable and less intrusive one.

WHAT IS SOLAR?
Solar PV generation is a well proven technology, and large solar farms have been operating since the 1990s. In solar farms, rows of solar panels are installed on steel frames. These frames are typically pile driven into the ground, meaning the fields can be easily returned to use once the solar farm is removed at the end of its life. The electricity generated by the PV panels travels through cables to inverters and then into a small substation which connects the site to the electricity distribution network.

WHY SOLAR?
Solar farms are amongst the cheapest forms of renewable energy. They are also quick to install and decommission and do not tend to have the visual impacts associated with other systems. The installation of a solar farm is less intrusive and therefore can add to the biodiversity goals of farming systems and enable certain agricultural practices to continue such as sheep grazing.
